Our Mission

To serve as a local Body of Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit, to fulfil the Great Commission of making disciples of all peoples through the proclamation of the gospel of the kingdom, conducting baptisms of believers, and making disciples through the teaching of God’s Word. To further the advance of the kingdom of God by going, and sending others to go, to fulfil the Great Commission.

NATIONAL

Potomac Valley Assembly Church is an independent
church affiliated with the General Council of the
Assemblies of God. For 34 years, we have celebrated
God’s faithfulness as a local congregation. Who we
are and what we do as a church must always be
securely rooted in what we believe about God. The
Bible is the source that shapes our understanding of
Him. We are convinced that the Bible is the inspired
message to humanity and that it provides for us a
clear path toward an eternal covenant relationship
with Him.

About Us

Potomac Valley Assembly Church Story

In 1914, the Assemblies of God was formed as a cooperative church fellowship as a direct result of the Worldwide Pentecostal Rival that began in the United States early 1900s. It was the result of a powerful move of the Holy Spirit empowering Christians to proclaim a full gospel message of Jesus Christ as Savior, Healer, Baptizer in the Holy Spirit, and soon-coming King of all glory. The revival continues to this day and over the past century has impacted over one billion souls across the globe. Today, approximately 70 million people assemble regularly in Assemblies of God churches throughout the world.

In the Unites States, approximately 3.2 million people assemble each week at over 12,000 Assemblies of God churches. Each church is united in doctrine, accountability, and the mission. The mission includes evangelizing the world, providing God’s people with a place to worship God corporately, building up and edifying the Body of Christ, and the sharing God’s love with compassion to the people of our nation and communities.

In 1985, PVA Church was founded by Pastor Randy Miller as an Assemblies of God church plant in Germantown, MD. The church originally operated in several public schools. In 1996, the church was able to purchase over 50 acres of land on Ridge Rd. (Rt. 27) in Germantown, MD. The church facility was built the following year and the PVA Academy and Daycare was established as a ministry of the church. For the past 25 years has operated as a Christ-centered, Spirit empowered church ministering in Christ’s love and truth to the people of our surrounding communities. We are a multi-cultural church family committed to the priorities of Prayer,
Presence, Power, Preaching, People, and Purpose.

We are excited that in these last days the Lord has given PVA Church the mandate to impact eternity for the glory of Christ as we work to fulfill the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:18-20. Our prayer is that the Lord adds to the church daily people led by the Spirit to be part of His great work through the ministries of PVA Church. We are hoping and praying you consider becoming part of PVA Church.
